This aint your Grandma's Fur Coat

It was a terribly muggy and rainy day in Toronto on Sunday, but Fashion Week must still go on.

Opening show, IZMA also known as Izzy Camilleri and Adrian Mainella, debut their collection at LG Fashion week and boy did they ever start it out with a bang. This for sure aint your Gramma's fur coat....I have said in a previous post that I love the look of fur, so as soon as I take a look at their collection, there are so many pieces I can't turn my eyes away. Camilleri being a fur specialist really knows her **** and is clearly educated on the many types of fur, from a beaver tunic with a deep V neck, a skirt in inky black coyote and bleached coyote and red fox. She makes the possibilities endless.

As much in love as I am with this collection, I cannot help but feel like 2 of the long  fur "dress" pieces were incredibly unflattering. I can't say they are all terrible, because in fact, the fur that is used is amazing, but the execution is lacking...heavily. The models (although skinnIER) look as though they just got ship wrecked, killed a huge mammal, threw it over the shoulders and hmmm went with it.

Butttt back to the more important things. The leather. It really compliments the softness of the fur and completes the look effortlessly.

I adore that IZMA has allowed to fur to be a focal point in (really any) outfit. She has turned a plain ivory blazer into an animalistic working warrior woman ( yeah, my analogies are amazing).

There are so many pieces I love, but since I don't want you guys to spend your next forever scrolling scrolling and scrolling, I only posted my favorites :)

Voila!!!

Leave it up Toronto Fashion Week to have some fur to keep us warm in those cold months...Not everyone is lucky enough to live in Cali...

AvRiL

It's almost April, I won't get ahead of myself because the last day of March is the most important day of the year...My birthday :) but it is hard to ignore that the April showers are about to grace us and before we know it, this school year is almost dunzo.

ummmm....I NEED A JOB. Yikes!

I'm lucky enough to have an internship lined up, but it is impossible to take it if I don't have something part-time to make some mulla....

As much as its nice to just have a schedule full of classes and assignments, I happen to miss working. Working downtown Toronto specifically, Oh! and work attire. Majority of my closet is full of work attire: flowing skirts, blazers, blouses and heels heels heels!!! I can't wait to leave the books at home and get back to some work (and play) this summer.

[caption id="attachment_546" align="aligncenter" width="476" caption="I miss work attire :("][/caption]

I have already been making lists of the things I want to accomplish this summer. Usually, maybe 5 of my 20 things I end up accomplishing, but this summer I am full of pure dedication. I feel like I have overcome so much in the last couple years, that I owe it to myself to finally cross off those things on my" bucket list".

I'll keep you guys posted with my list :)

Uncle Karl, my Godfather

"When I was 14 I wanted to smoke because my mother smoked like mad. I wanted to smoke to look grown-up. But my mother said, “You shouldn’t smoke. Your hands are not that beautiful and that shows when you smoke.”  - Karl Lagerfeld VICE Magazine, 2010

Good point  Mama Lagerfeld...

Walkin in a Winter Wonderland..in the Spring time

Breeyn McCarney Fall/Winter Hard Boiled Wonderland Collection for 2010 speaks for itself. You almost can't believe it was her first show. The show was a glimpse of what great pieces and future shows to expect from McCarney in years to come. I cannot even wait.

Although I wasn't lucky enough to attend the show, I have been interest in McCarney for some time now, and viewing her show at the Courtyard downtown Toronto, i am beyond proud of her collection and love the play on Alice in Wonderland. I am all about things that are dainty, so this collection would be a great addition to my fall/winter wardrobe.

The pale pastels and nude colours are extremely flattering for the winter weather. Partnered with the hint of grey and black was well thought of as well by McCarney. All models were dressed in cohesive and flowing silhouettes, with whimsical frocks made the collection as a whole, look very well put together.

The dark background of the runway, really flattered the neutral colours of the collection, and allowed the lights to focus on the soft colours of the collection.

Tights and leggings have been all the rage this past year, and McCarney does a great job at making it her own. Pairing the leggings with a mix of dresses, long sweaters and flowing pieces give a simple outfit, a touch of "fairy-tale".

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Dani, and she adored Breeyn McCarney....

Envy is no Good

I'm having one of those moments...

Those moments you get when you just want to scream, but instead you sip on your morning tea and make plans for the day as if there is absolutely nothing wrong...but F%&$ it.

I'm just gonna let it out....

You don't deserve this. I don't even think you know what you're talking about. You think you deserve it, cuz it falls into your lap. But you know what. You don't. You don't at all. And it is killing me inside. There are people out there (like me) who would give anything to have an opportunity like it, and it would never fall into their lap.

Jealousy is evil. But is envy the same? Is it a sin to envy someone else? Of course...

But should I go into the "why wont it happen to me?"

Do I make it happen? But how? Why do these things fall into others laps?

I think I deserve it. I know i do. I work hard. They do not....

They say Karma's a bitch, but where the hell has your karma gone? It hasn't bitten you yet...(I'm secretly waiting)

They say good things happen to those who wait. Well I have waited long enough and I'm starting to think that saying is a load of crap.

It's just not.....Fair....

BUT, I'm using it as fuel. I'm using these people as motivation to make it through.

Yes, I have to work harder than them to get what I want. But the outcome is that much more rewarding...

Here's to making it through!

Bravo LC

Lauren Conrad for Kohls Spring 2010 collection I am in love with. Its nothing extremely original or even anything nobody has seen before, but the simplicity and use of complimenting pieces make me crave a roadtrip to Kohls. Plus. of course they would use her face to model the pieces, but I must say, she's no model, but looks amazing nevertheless.

"Dresses are a feminine and versatile way to maximize any woman's wardrobe this spring," says Conrad. And I completely agree. When us Canadians are blessed with beautiful hot weather, dresses are easy, simple, classic and oh so comfortable.

So take a look at the collection. What do you think? You feelin it?

You're not gonna reach my telephone

Since I can remember I was always the kinda girl who would watch a tv show, movie or music video and concentrated solely on what the person was wearing. I can't help it, but others find it annoying cuz I always need to say what i think aloud. Tough $hit for them.

It was the same for the new Telephone video from Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Clearly this video makes me think 'WTF" but I admire Gaga's  fashion sense. As much as the looks are everywhere, they somehow flow together and make the entire video one big fashion show. Apart from the manly women officers, I thought it was sexy and unique.
